Aspen Grange Care Home residents, their relatives, and staff enjoy Christmas baking, Secret Santa, and a visit from Father Christmas.

A Jolly Christmas at Aspen Grange Care Home

We pull out all the stops for Christmas at Aspen Grange Care Home. Residents of our home in Braintree, Essex, get to enjoy an exciting lead up to the festive period, with Christmas themed activities, decoration making, and dressing up for Alzheimer’s Society’s Elf Day.

As the rest of the world slows down for a couple of days from Christmas Eve, we ensure that the festivities continue at the same pace for our residents. On Christmas Eve, it has become a tradition to hand out and open our secret Santa gifts. This year we also held a raffle, with prizes kindly donated by residents’ relatives, visitors, and our local supporters.

To add to the excitement, and to ensure residents had something deliciously festive to enjoy with their tea, we spent the afternoon baking and decorating Christmas cookies. The activity brought with it a lot of smiles and discussions about the things our residents loved to bake themselves at Christmastime. There were some really colourful designs, and it really was a shame to eat them!

On Christmas Day, we welcomed a very special visitor to Aspen Grange. Father Christmas himself took time out of his busy schedule to pop into the home to deliver gifts to our residents. With many of their relatives joining us for Christmas Day drinks and lunch, the big man in red couldn’t resist staying for a chat, a few photos, and a mince pie.

We know that a great number of elderly people have long-distance family, or no family at all to spend Christmas with. At Aspen Grange Care Home we ensure that there is plenty to do over the festive period, with many visiting groups and organisations popping in over the holidays.

As with other times of the year, your family and friends are welcome to visit at any time during the Christmas holidays, with many joining their relatives at the home for Christmas dinner. During this busy time of year, we make sure that we continue to have a full complement of staff to tend to your every need and that they still have time for a good old chat.
